Kate was born and raised in Waterman, Illinois and attended college at Northern Illinois University where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in geography and geographic information systems. In 2015 she fulfilled her childhood dream of moving to Colorado, but will always stay true to her roots by remaining a loyal Chicago Blackhawks fan! Kate has been an animal lover her entire life and is an advocate for our clients and the health of their fur babies. In her free time she enjoys making jewelry, taking advantage of Colorado's fabulous scenery, traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and of course spoiling her dog Layla.
Mary is a Colorado native and grew up in Longmont, Colorado until moving to Fort Collins to pursue her undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Sociology at Colorado State University. Mary has owned and loved animals all her life and currently has three beautiful cats – Sam, Sansa and Calypso. Her hobbies include hiking, reading, and cooking, but she's always willing to try something new.
Arrin Bizelli - Lead Veterinary Technician
Arrin is a Colorado native and grew up in Elizabeth, CO, where her love of animals sparked at a young age and grew on her family’s little farm. Arrin spent many of her childhood years raising and showing a slew of 4-H animals and competing in local rodeos. After graduating high school, Arrin attended CSU, earning her Bachelors Degrees in Biology and Zoology. During her college career, Arrin volunteered most of her free time at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the small animal surgery and equine departments. After college, Arrin started working as a veterinary technician, where she has dedicated the last 9 years of her life caring for so many wonderful and special animals. We were very glad to have Arrin join our team as Lead Veterinary Technician in 2014. Outside of work, Arrin enjoys the great CO outdoors with her son, Tyler, camping, hiking and fishing. Arrin and Tyler share their home with a very happy black lab, Chato, a lazy, fat orange cat, Oliver, and an energetic, one-eyed kitten, Nala.
Amy Morts, CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician
Amy was born and raised in Kansas where she went to K-State and graduated with a bachelors in engineering. Although Amy was a great engineer, she wanted to work with animals. She worked with local animal rescues and rehabilitated many dogs. Two years ago Amy moved to Fort Collins to attend Front Range Community College where she graduated with an an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology in the summer of 2014. Amy joined our team at Garden Valley Veterinary Hospital shortly after graduation. She lives with three pets of her own: Toby a heeler mix, Lilly a feisty calico, and Wilbur a guinea pig. Lizzy was born in California, and moved here to Northern Colorado several years ago. She has always had a passion for animals and has always had at least one dog in her life. She currently lives in Windsor with her four furry-babies (a Pomeranian named Cookie, a Heeler-mix named Dough, a Pitbull-mix named Dusk, and a Huskie-mix named Peaches) and two bearded dragons (Jack and Sally). Lizzy hopes to eventually attend either grooming or veterinary technician school in the future and eventually would like to run an animal shelter.
Shelly has always felt she has a way with animals. She grew up having birds and rodents of her own, so she has a soft spot for exotics. She also used to dog-sit, work in a barn, and ride horses as a kid. Shelly attended Colorado State University for her Bachelor’s degree with the intention of going to veterinary school afterward. However, she became involved in research and ended up loving it so much that she took a side track to attend graduate school. Shelly recently graduated with her PhD in Biomedical Sciences and still hopes to eventually attend veterinary school. Shelly has a sweet herding mix pup named Zoey. Shelly joined our team at Garden Valley in summer 2015 as a veterinary assistant.

With a passion for large breed dogs, it’s no wonder her favorite parts of the day are the ones she gets to spend with her Newfoundland fur-baby, Baxter.
Joel was born in Kansas but calls Colorado his true home. He was a groomer for 5 years in both Kansas and Colorado however for the last 3 years he has been working in the pet retail business. There he found a passion for nutrition and helping pet parents understand the food their pets eat. However he decided he wanted to work more directly with animals again which has brought him to us. He has 2 dogs named Panda and Tragedy, 3 cats named Flip, Mu, and Boo boo, and 2 fire-belly toads. He is happy to be here to help keep your furry babies happy during their stay.
