Kate McAllister

Kate was born and raised in Waterman, Illinois and attended college at Northern Illinois University where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in geography and geographic information systems.  In 2015 she fulfilled her childhood dream of moving to Colorado, but will always stay true to her roots by remaining a loyal Chicago Blackhawks fan!  Kate has been an animal lover her entire life and is an advocate for our clients and the health of their fur babies.  In her free time she enjoys making jewelry, taking advantage of Colorado's fabulous scenery, traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and of course spoiling her dog Layla.

Mary Peterson

Mary is a Colorado native and grew up in Longmont, Colorado until moving to Fort Collins to pursue her undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Sociology at Colorado State University. She spent her childhood with both family pets and helping her uncle raise rabbits and Jack Russel Terriers for several years. In 2015 she graduated from the University of Colorado in Denver with her master’s degrees in Public Administration and Criminal Justice. Mary has owned and loved animals all her life and currently has three beautiful cats – Sam, Sansa and Calypso. Her hobbies include hiking, reading, and cooking, but she's always willing to try something new.

Veterinary Technicians:

Amy Morts, CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician

Amy was born and raised in Kansas where she went to K-State and graduated with a bachelors in engineering.  Although Amy was a great engineer, she wanted to work with animals.  She worked with local animal rescues and rehabilitated many dogs. Two years ago Amy moved to Fort Collins to attend Front Range Community College where she graduated with an an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology in the summer of 2014.  Amy joined our team at Garden Valley Veterinary Hospital shortly after graduation.  She lives with three pets of her own: Toby a heeler mix, Lilly a feisty calico, and Wilbur a guinea pig.  She absolutely loves what she does now!

Jayne Lennan - Veterinary Technician

Jayne was raised in the Vail Valley and moved to the area to pursue becoming a veterinary technician. She graduated from FRCC in 2017 with an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Jayne has had a love for animals for as long as she can remember! She currently owns two dogs and a cat; Milo (Corgi/Mini Aussie mix), Boo (Australian Shepherd), and Khaleesi (Domestic Short Hair). In her free time, she enjoys drawing, snowboarding, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with her fur babies.

Lizzy Holdbrook - Veterinary Assistant

Lizzy was born in California, and moved here to Northern Colorado several years ago.  She has always had a passion for animals and has always had at least one dog in her life.  She currently lives in Windsor with her four furry-babies (a Pomeranian named Cookie, a Heeler-mix named Dough, a Pitbull-mix named Dusk, and a Huskie-mix named Peaches)  and two bearded dragons (Jack and Sally).  Lizzy hopes to eventually attend either grooming or veterinary technician school in the future and eventually would like to run an animal shelter.

Boarding Support Staff:

Brenda Joslen

Brenda was originally born in Colorado Springs, CO, but grew up in a small town in Arizona called Page. Since the age of three, she has always had a true passion for all animals. Growing up with five horses and two dogs, she loves having the responsibility of giving all pets the best care possible. Brenda also competed in rodeo with her horses for two years and continues to be involved in the equine field.  She has a one year old sweet loving Boxer/German Shepard dog named Gauge.  Brenda is currently a sophomore at Colorado State University and pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Science.  Her long-term goals include going to veterinary school or veterinary technician school.

Maddie Arellano

Originally born in Long Beach, California, Maddie moved to Colorado when she was eight years old. With a strong devotion from a young age for animals of all types, it was clear what her dream career would be. Maddie currently lives in Fort Collins and attends Colorado State University, where she is seeking a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. She hopes to go on to veterinary school to specialize in surgery. With a passion for large breed dogs, it’s no wonder her favorite parts of the day are the ones she gets to spend with her Newfoundland fur-baby, Baxter.

Sammi Scott

Sammi was originally born in Denver, Colorado but moved to the mountain town Buena Vista when she was four years old. She had animals since she was born, however it was when she obtained her first dog that she knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She is now pursuing that dream and is currently a Sophomore at Colorado State University. She plans to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences and then attend veterinary school. Sammi is a lover of cats, dogs, and almost any other animal you could think of. Her hobbies include playing her flute, reading, golfing, snowboarding, and being active outside. Sammi’s excited to have the opportunity to make your pets happy and keep them healthy during their stay here at Garden Valley!
