Kate was born and raised in Waterman, Illinois and attended college at Northern Illinois University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in geography and geographic information systems. In 2015 she fulfilled her childhood dream of moving to Colorado, but will always stay true to her roots by remaining a loyal Chicago Blackhawks fan! Kate has been an animal lover her entire life and is an advocate for our clients and the health of their fur babies. In her free time she enjoys making jewelry, taking advantage of Colorado’s fabulous scenery, traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and of course spoiling her dog Layla.
Stephanie is a proud Colorado native, having been born and raised in Fort Collins. An avid animal lover since childhood, Stephanie loves to spoil her pets. She has owned and cared for retired racing greyhounds for nearly a decade. In addition to being passionate about animal adoption, it has been her lifelong dream to work in the veterinary field. Having recently bought her first house in Windsor, Stephanie is eager to make a positive impact on her local community. She is extremely excited to be a part of the Garden Valley team!
Megan was born and raised in California, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2010 from San Diego State University. She moved to Colorado in 2011 and followed a career path in health focused retail management. Here is where she found her loving husband Lance, and started their furry and feathery family of two cats (Bijou and Aang), two dogs (Yue and Katara), a Sun Conure (Loki), and five ducks (Lucky, Ducky, Daffy, Darkwing, and Littlefoot). Through the adventures of pet parenting, Megan realized her true passion of Veterinary medicine. She is currently obtaining her second Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Colorado State University, with the intent on applying to Veterinary school to pursue her dream. In her spare time, Megan enjoys volunteering at Animal House and the Colorado State University Veterinary Hospital, as well as camping, skiing, home renovations, and signing herself and her husband up for different running races around Colorado.
Amy Morts, CVT – Certified Veterinary Technician
Amy was born and raised in Kansas where she went to K-State and graduated with a bachelors in engineering. Although Amy was a great engineer, she wanted to work with animals. She worked with local animal rescues and rehabilitated many dogs. Two years ago Amy moved to Fort Collins to attend Front Range Community College where she graduated with an an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology in the summer of 2014. Amy joined our team at Garden Valley Veterinary Hospital shortly after graduation. She lives with three pets of her own: Toby a heeler mix, Lilly a feisty calico, and Wilbur a guinea pig. She absolutely loves what she does now!
Lizzy Holdbrook – Veterinary Assistant
Lizzy was born in California, and moved here to Northern Colorado several years ago. She has always had a passion for animals and has always had at least one dog in her life. She currently lives in Windsor with her four furry-babies (a Pomeranian named Cookie, a Heeler-mix named Dough, a Pitbull-mix named Dusk, and a Huskie-mix named Peaches) and two bearded dragons (Jack and Sally). Lizzy hopes to eventually attend either grooming or veterinary technician school in the future and eventually would like to run an animal shelter.
Brenda Joslen – Veterinary Assistant
Brenda was originally born in Colorado Springs, CO, but grew up in a small town in Arizona called Page. Since the age of three, she has always had a true passion for all animals. Growing up with five horses and two dogs, she loves having the responsibility of giving all pets the best care possible. Brenda also competed in rodeo with her horses for two years and continues to be involved in the equine field. She has a one year old sweet loving Boxer/German Shepherd dog named Gauge. Brenda is attending veterinary technician school at Front Range Community College. Her long-term goals include going to veterinary school or veterinary technician school.
Rebecca Madison – Veterinary Assistant
Rebecca was born in California on a military base. When she was two, she and her family moved to Windsor. She attended school and graduated in 2015. Since she was a little girl, she’s had a passion for helping animals. She has grown up with dogs, horses, and chickens. She currently moved to Eaton with her fiancé where they have 6 chickens and 4 dogs (Daisy 17-year-old yorkie, Chance 9-year-old lab mix, Luke 4-year-old Aussie border collie mix, and Bow 2-year-old Deaf Double Merle Aussie). She plans to attend veterinary technician school in the future.
Boarding Support Staff:
Kaylie was originally born in Wheat Ridge, CO. She is currently majoring in Zoology at Colorado State University. She plans to continue her passion for animals into veterinary school and specialize in radiology. Kaylie grew up always surrounded by animals and currently has an orange tabby named Ruby. When she’s not studying she enjoys watching the Broncos and spending time with family and friends. Kaylie loves being able to work with animals everyday and give them the attention and love they all deserve.
Delaney has lived in Colorado since 2014 with her husband Trenton. She graduated from CSU in 2017 and studied cellular and molecular neuroscience focusing on the hypothalamic control of appetite in mice. She is going to attend veterinary school and is passionate about caring for the pets in boarding! Delaney has a cat named Leonidas and a Keeshond Husky mix named Nera both of which she takes hiking and camping in her free time. When she isn’t outside with her two kiddos, she is likely reading or watching Star Wars or playing her French Horn.
Sammie was born and raised in Colorado. She always knew she wanted to work with animals and decided to go grooming school. She graduated from grooming school in 2017 and started at Garden Valley shortly after. Sammie enjoys using her low stress handling techniques and professional training to make your pets look and feel their best! In her free time, Sammie enjoys singing, hiking, and spending time with her English bulldog, Heavy.
